Iron Sky

I watched this before, so it was a nice revision for me to see it in the class. I really enjoyed the film, the whole concept of it it's amazing.  Specially the beginning, I think it is really clever and bold to use the idea of Nazi’s taking over in the present day. We can see the culture clash between the future world and Nazi, which turned out to be such great comedic story because no one is treating it seriously, otherwise it will this whole film will be a big mistake. Even in film no one felt offending by it.  However, in reality are we going to forget the history, the world is become more and more open, but are we going to forget about what happened in the history. I felt it will be nice to set a boundary for ourselves.

The Martian

I never watched start wars and star frack completely and I amnot a huge fan of it, so space opera is still a pretty new genre for me. Therefore, before I started reading the book I did a little research. According to the internet Space opera genre is based off the concept that people wanted to explore space in a masculine sense. For this week, I read The Martian by Andy Weir. Even it is Space opera but you still can see a lot of different elements that embrace to different genre we mentioned in the class but taken place in the space.   The Main Protag Mark Watney has to find his way to come back to earth definitely falls into the adventure genre, and during his journey he has to use want he learned to try to figure out how to survive out this which also can relate to Hero’s Journey. New Weird

I never read any new weird novel in my life, so this is a whole new experience for me. For this week, I read King Rat by China Mieville. After reading the book I was so confused because the book gets very messy at its timeline, the whole story just seems so weird for me. First story begins with Saul (the protagonist) awakened by the police pounding on the door and come to arrest him, because he is the lone suspect in his father’s murder case, and a stranger helped him to escape tells him he is his uncle and he is a king rat, but actually the stranger is his true father. Let’s pause and image if this happened on you, how is that feels like? It’s really weird!  As I said the timeline of this book it’s pretty messy, it makes me so confused because is beyond my expectation.
